Special
Education
At HCS, we are committed to providing an inclusive and equitable education for all students, including those with special needs, because we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. We firmly believe in the inherent worth and potential of each individual, and our commitment to special education reflects this belief.
Through personalized learning plans, specialized support services and a nurturing community, we strive to meet the unique needs of every student with diverse learning abilities. Our team of dedicated educators, trained in evidence-based practices for special education, work collaboratively with students, families and our team of related service providers and specialists to ensure that each student receives the tailored support they require to reach their full potential.
The Special Education Department works collaboratively with HCS staff, parents and students to provide a free and appropriate public education to any student with a disability who is determined to be eligible for special education programs and/or services, per N.J.A.C. 6A:14. To learn more about our programming or your child’s eligibility for special education and related services, please contact Melissa Fisher (link this to my email- mfisher@hobokencs.net).

Services include consultation with parents and teachers, specialized assessments, programming, and therapy designed to remediate the handicapping condition that adversely affects the child’s educational performance.
